Walking Tours

Russ Kennedy’s free Kentucky River Park Walk Tour leaves from the River View Park near the Farmers Market Pavilion at Wilkinson and Broadway. This hour to an hour and a half tour highlights many historical moments of the Kentucky River. Reservations by appointment are available at 502-803-0242.

Russ Hatter’s Downtown Walking Tour takes you back to the origins of Kentucky’s capital city, flavored with tales of early historic personalities such as James Wilkinson, Lafayette, Aaron Burr, and Daniel Boone. Frankfort is literally an “architectural museum” displaying examples of Georgian design, Greek Revival, Gothic Revival, Italian Renaissance, and early 20th century Mixed Georgian. Reservations are required in advance at 502-696-9127 or russh@mis.net. Fee is $5.00 per person, 12 and older. Tours start from the Capital City Museum, 325 Ann Street in downtown Frankfort.

Chuck Bogart’s free Historic Walking Tours begin at the L&N Train Depot at 6:30 pm adjacent to the Capital City Museum. The tour dates are announced each spring. Call the number listed for current tour dates. This popular hour-long tour shares the history of Frankfort's railroad days from its beginning to the present. Make your reservations at 502-227-2436. Parking is adjacent to the museum.

Russ Hatter’s popular Murder and Mayhem Tour returns every Thursday night in October starting at 7:30 pm from the Capital City Museum. Fee is $10.00 per person age 16 and over. Advance reservations required at 502-696-2197 or russh@mis.net.
